MBBS Across
Central America

New Wave works with NMC-recognised universities across multiple Central American countries — each offering distinct advantages for Indian MBBS students.

🇲🇽Mexico
🇬🇹Guatemala
🇧🇿Belize
🇸🇻El Salvador
🇭🇳Honduras
🇳🇮Nicaragua

Not all universities in the above countries are NMC-approved. New Wave only recommends and works with institutions that are fully verified. Ask our counsellors for the current NMC-approved list.

An Emerging Destination with Global Standards

Central America is an emerging but increasingly important MBBS destination for Indian students seeking an alternative to the more established options. Universities here follow the US-pattern medical curriculum — the same model used in the Philippines — which produces graduates who are well-prepared for FMGE, USMLE, and PLAB examinations.

The region offers tropical weather, English-medium programs (particularly in Belize and parts of Mexico), competitive tuition fees, and an international student body. For students who want a US-pattern education at lower cost than the Philippines, Central America is an excellent option — provided the right, NMC-approved institution is chosen carefully.

This is where New Wave's guidance is critical: Central America has many universities of varying quality. Our counsellors have done the ground work to identify which institutions are genuinely NMC-approved and suitable for Indian students.

Why Consider Central America
for MBBS?

For the right student profile, Central America offers a compelling combination of quality, cost, and global recognition.

US-Pattern MD Curriculum

Central American medical universities follow the US-pattern Doctor of Medicine (MD) curriculum — providing rigorous training aligned with FMGE, USMLE, and global medical standards.

NMC Recognised (Selected)

Specific NMC-approved institutions in the region are recognised by India's National Medical Commission. New Wave only works with these verified institutions — never unverified ones.

English Medium

English is the language of instruction at NMC-approved institutions in the region, particularly in Belize and select universities — no additional language requirement.

Competitive Tuition Costs

Tuition fees are competitive — generally lower than Philippines while offering a similar US-pattern curriculum and NMC-approved outcome for Indian graduates.

USMLE & FMGE Alignment

The US-based curriculum aligns well with both the FMGE/NEXT examination for India and USMLE for the USA — giving graduates the widest range of global practice options.

Tropical Environment

Central America's warm tropical climate, natural beauty, and diverse culture make it an enriching experience for students who seek an international living environment.

Why Expert Guidance is Critical for Central America

Central America is the one destination where we most strongly caution students against acting without expert guidance. The region has many universities — and while some are fully NMC-recognised and produce excellent graduates, others are not approved and will leave Indian students unable to sit for FMGE/NEXT or practice in India.

New Wave only recommends universities in Central America that we have personally verified as NMC-recognised at the time of admission. We actively monitor NMC's published list and will never recommend a university whose recognition is in question.
